Software Engineer Interview Experience

Process

Coding challenge and phone screens.

This process was remote due to the pandemic.

There were two phone screens, each with 2-3 questions depending on how far I progressed.

I was rejected after the second phone screen.

I solved the problems and seemingly gave satisfactory explanations, but there were many general knowledge questions beforehand covering Java, object-oriented programming, and networking.

This experience will likely differ based on the interviewer, but as my expertise was in Python, I struggled somewhat in these areas, and that must have been the deciding factor.

The interviewer was nice enough to make me think my coding would compensate, but I guess not.
