Pros

Many H1-B visa workers are available and present at this company, as a significant portion of the company, per their registration with the US Government as "H1-B Visa Dependent."

Cons

H1-B visa workers do not have a path to citizenship. The company owns the six-year visa and sets the salary at a fraction of that for a US-citizen equivalent STEM worker. The worker has to "hope" their application for a Green Card is not interrupted by the visa holder changing their mind about employment for any reason, with zero legal repercussions.

Advice to Management

The MathWorks is registered with the US Government as "H1-B dependent" because The MathWorks is addicted to lower wages in a high-cost zone of the US, not because there is a "shortage of Engineers" where their HQ state of MA, which has the most colleges per capita in the US graduating engineers. As opposed to California, this organization has fostered a "binary diversity" culture, clearly catering to Wi-Pro and their workers from a certain country.
