There is some interesting technical work being done at Mathworks. For low-level engineers, I think the culture is quite good: many options of teams to work on, good work/life balance, and low stress.
Pre-pandemic, there was no WFH policy. This may have changed since then.
While there are many technical workers from diverse backgrounds, unfortunately, there is an overwhelming majority of white men in management positions within the technical side of the organization.
Pay for technical work was average.
A lot of the technical work is actually not very cutting-edge or interesting (IMHO). There's quite a bit of legacy code wrangling that needs to be done, and many new additions to the product are adopting newly published algorithms from academia, etc.
Basic HR Interview Questions for the First Round
The first step was a 30-minute HR phone interview. Nothing fancy, and the interviewer was very friendly. Next, there was a 45-minute technical interview. The interviewer could not allow me to think through my answers before responding.
The process initially starts with a video interview to check communication skills and interest level. Next, there are two phone interviews: * One is with HR to learn more about the position, salary, and benefits. * The other is with an engineer
