Process

I started with a referral from a friend and received a call about a week later from the recruiter, around the beginning of December. She asked me to tell her about myself and explained the role. No technical questions were asked during this initial call, but from what I've seen, they do sometimes ask general questions, like "What's the difference between UNION and UNION ALL?"

I took the technical screening about two weeks after, which consisted of five Python and five SQL questions to be completed in about 50 minutes. They don't expect you to answer all of them; most people are usually fine with solving three to four Python and SQL questions. Three correct answers are considered borderline, though.

My interviewer seemed a bit distracted. One of my Python solutions hinged on a very obscure Python function that he kept hinting at, but which I had never heard of. In retrospect, that particular issue could have been solved easily with a different approach in Python, but I felt tunnel-visioned by his hints.

I got the news that I had passed a few days later, and my Full Loop was scheduled for early February. It seemed like a long gap, but I wanted to ensure I could prepare properly, and the recruiter was very willing to accommodate this. They provided a comprehensive overview of each interview portion along with extensive preparation material, and it truly seemed like they wanted me to succeed.

I prepared by going through all the material, supplemented with YouTube videos on product sense and reading the Data Warehouse Toolkit by Kimball for data modeling. You only really need chapters one and two, though.

All of the interviewers were very nice and willing to help if I got stuck. Sometimes, it truly felt more like discussing and brainstorming with them rather than being interviewed. They were all also excited to talk about their jobs, provided you had any time left over from each round.

The whole process was very transparent and took about two months. However, my experience was definitely on the longer side since it was slowed down by taking place at the end of the year, and I had to reschedule an interview at one point. They got back to me after the full loop interview within half a week.

Questions

The phone interview will consist of 5 Python and 5 SQL questions.

I don't exactly remember the specific questions, but they will be LeetCode easy for Python and medium-hard for SQL, similar to those others have posted.

I cannot disclose the questions for the full loop due to an NDA.
