Machine Learning Engineer Interview Experience - Dallas, Texas

Process

A recruiter found me on LinkedIn and reached out about an L6 position (remote).

Given that this was a Principal job post, the first interview was behavioral.

The recruiter provided ample detail and shared prep material, which I found very relatable from my experience.

On the interview day:

  • The interviewer dialed in three minutes late.
  • The interview was prolonged five minutes past the scheduled end, despite me indicating we were concluding.
  • The interviewer asked very typical questions.

Three business days later, I had to ping the recruiter to learn that the interviewer found my interview "not great."

The recruiter also mentioned the possibility of re-interviewing me for an L5 position, which I politely declined.
