Machine Learning Engineer Interview Experience - London, United Kingdom

Process

I was approached by their recruiter to apply for their Machine Learning Engineering positions, as hiring managers had taken interest in my profile (allegedly).

After taking a considerable amount of time to prepare for the tech screen and passing it comfortably, I was told that I am not experienced enough in system design, which was not the subject of the screen.

However, they offered to continue my application for SWE roles instead. This is in total contradiction with both my profile and my initial conversation with the recruiter.

Overall, be prepared to have your time wasted. Do not believe them when they say they are recruiting for a specific team or role; this is just to get more people into the pipeline.

Questions

Two classic "LeetCode" style questions:

  • One involving binary search.
  • Another involving dynamic programming.
