I have more than 8 years of experience in ML & AI. I am highly skilled in my field, and I have accumulated several awards and accolades.
Facebook approached me to collaborate on ML projects, which I found very exciting.
However, I did not encounter a single ML question during the entire interview process. Instead, I was asked about topics I learned years ago and no longer have the time to review thoroughly. I am a seasoned practitioner, not a recent graduate. The fact that Facebook required me to review and test data structure concepts irrelevant to ML, and that I invested significant time and effort into the technical interview, made it one of the worst interviewing experiences I have ever had.
I successfully solved all the problems presented with optimal solutions and maintained grace and professionalism throughout the process. Facebook's decision to reject me afterward remains ridiculous and confusing.
My suggestion is that if you seek ML professionals, your interviews should focus on ML. If I had been asked even one question in my area of expertise, my perspective would not be so negative. It was disappointing and insulting to feel that the individuals I met from Facebook lacked ML knowledge.
