Network Production Engineer Interview Experience - Turkey

Process

After a phone interview with HR, there was a 45-minute coding interview. Following that, a network interview, which was supposed to be 45 minutes, took me 1 hour and 15 minutes, with one interviewer talking after another.

Interviewers are generally understanding. They aim to get the most out of candidates and want to see what else you know even if you get stuck on a particular question.

I did not pass the network portion. I am a practical engineer, not a theoretical one, and I already have a life and job. I don't have months to train for what feels like "golden handcuffs" in an expensive country.

(It seems doable if you train for a month or two fully on theory for at least this part.)

Questions

Asked a simple file open, read, do a simple calculation, and give output question. Asked a battleship game question.

Interview 2 about Networks. Purely theoretical, they wanted to know if I knew the BGP protocol, especially in detail (which I only knew generally and didn't care to learn in detail). Asked how DNS works, and asked about TCP/IP communication and how to debug if a download is slow trying to get a file from the other side of the world.
