Phone chat with their recruiter Phone interview with a manager In-house interviews
The interviewer was awful. His English was poor and he was rude. Unfortunately, I think it is down to luck whether you get someone with bad people skills, and I guess I drew the short straw!
His poor English really ruined the interview. The question he asked was quite simple: given two start times and two end times, how do you know if they overlap? What wasn't simple was finding out what he wanted me to do. It was on the phone, so there was no screen sharing. Was I supposed to write code or just tell him? All he kept saying was, "How would you write that API?" There were a lot of long silences during this interview, and I tried to end it after about 20 minutes. He said, "Let's carry on if you're still awake."
This was a bad representation of Facebook, since I've interviewed there once before and it was awesome. This guy, though, he ruined it. I wouldn't want to work with this guy; I imagine it would be a nightmare.
Given two start times and two end times, determine if they overlap.
