About a year and a half ago, I had a phone interview with Facebook through Interviewstreet. I failed quickly, mostly because I am not a native English speaker and am not very fluent. I continued practicing my English. Then, two months ago, I got another chance, recommended by a friend interning at Facebook.
The recruiter responded very quickly, in less than a week. However, I was very busy and not well-prepared at that time, so I conducted the phone interview a month later. I was asked to solve an easy coding problem, which I finished quickly but made a small mistake in analyzing the complexity. I only discovered this mistake after the interview. The interviewer was very experienced, and I had a great time talking to him after the coding portion.
Then, I was invited for an onsite interview. I had three interviews: two involved coding problems, and one involved coding problems as well as a discussion about my resume projects.
The coding problems were harder than the one in the phone interview. I struggled significantly with one of them but believe I performed well on the others. The interviewer who discussed my projects had a strong background and seemed a bit formidable. I was quite nervous when speaking with him, but fortunately, it turned out well.
Overall, the recruiters and interviewers were very nice. I was unfamiliar with the U.S. interview process and asked many questions. The recruiters replied very quickly.
Well, you know, NDA.
