Pros: - Autonomy. This can be scary at first. You're in charge of your own destiny, and nobody will tell you what to do. That doesn't mean your manager isn't there to help you figure this out. - People. Access to some of the smartest people in the business. - Access. You can dogfood unreleased Oculus hardware and play with apps only available in other countries. Everyone is keen to get feedback, so you can actually shape their roadmaps.

Cons: - Transparency is waning. There have been so many leaks that the weekly Q&A sessions are less transparent these days, which is a shame because we need it more than ever. - External cynicism. Most of the reporting out there, even from otherwise reputable media organizations, is poor and full of empty rhetoric. That's not only annoying when you work here but bad for the world because this company does need to be held to account by the public, and you can't do this when everybody is screaming about the equivalent of Hilary's emails.

Pros: - Moving very fast, allowing you to feel better about what you've done. - The product is shipped so often that your work is much more impactful. - It's a very open company that puts a lot of trust in its engineers. Even interns have a lot of power that could be easily abused, but we don't want to lose that trust, so no one abuses it. - You have the occasion to work with super smart people from the industry. - Even though it's no longer a startup, it still has that feeling about it. - It's not all about the money. - Food is great! Snacks and drinks too :)

Cons: Because the company is small compared to the number of users we have, sometimes there's a lot of work. If you are not a minority, you can sometimes feel discriminated against here, but I think it's a trend everywhere.

Pros: Culture, culture and more culture. The first thing you will notice as a new employee at Facebook is the multitude of social events, both in office and offsite. There is always something fun to do that helps you engage with coworkers that you may not have come in contact with in your normal workday. I truly enjoy my coworkers and find myself hanging out with them even for non-Facebook events; it's great!

Cons: It is a very fast-paced environment, and it takes time to really find that work-life/personal-life balance.
