It took me one phone interview, followed up with two on-site interviews. The first on-site interview had five sessions, and the second had two sessions.
The interviews went well, and the interviewers were nice. I answered all the questions fluently and felt confident that most interviewers enjoyed speaking with me. Two interviewers mentioned expectations for new hire camp, and another took me to the patio on top of the building.
However, the recruiters went completely silent after that. I sent three emails after the last on-site interview. Then, one day, they called me without notice, after hours, while I was driving, and said I was not selected. I asked for the reason and what areas I could improve. They simply stated there was no specific reason, that everything was good, the team was impressed, and it was just a difficult decision.
A week later, I learned about a Facebook employee suicide event. This made sense to me as to why Facebook made that decision, as they seem to have internal issues they aren't disclosing. Best of luck to the software engineers at Facebook!
