Software Engineer Interview Experience - San Jose, California

Process

The interview process consisted of three rounds:

  • 1st round: HR screening
  • 2nd round: Online coding assessment
  • 3rd round: Online coding assessment

The first and second rounds were excellent. However, the third round was problematic because the interviewer remained silent and provided minimal feedback throughout the process.

Essentially, it seems they are primarily interested in identifying candidates who can develop complex programs quickly while maintaining solid and clean coding practices.

The HR department responded very swiftly. While the final decision was delayed for some time, they were willing to provide an update upon request. This was my first interview experience, so it might be particularly challenging for a novice interviewee.

Incidentally, I've observed that Chinese engineers often tend to be more reserved during interviews, which can feel somewhat "rude" to the interviewee due to the lack of conversation.
