Software Engineer Interview Experience

Process

I had a scheduled phone screening around the first week of February this year. The interviewer called and asked a typical question, which I solved for the most part, and I answered a few of his additional questions. Nothing felt like it was going extremely badly. However, there wasn't any second question or any specific question for me. A lot of background noise was coming from the interviewer's side.

In the end, I asked a few questions, and the interviewer ended by saying thanks. There wasn't much enthusiasm from his part. It felt like I was not meeting his standard, but the lack of interaction from his part made him very hard to read.

After more than two months now, I haven't yet heard a courteous rejection from FB. I've reached out more than twice.

I appeared in an FB interview a year back, and the process went smoothly. The recruiter this time reached out early, and I had to tell her that I had appeared less than a year back. When it was just a year past, I reached out, and the phone screening was scheduled.

It just feels like the recruiting process has lost its finesse. If I have spent my time preparing, the least I can expect from my recruiter is to let me know of the outcome.
