Cons

Management quality varies drastically between teams; your experience depends heavily on your direct manager.

There is limited recourse when dealing with toxic management.

Performance evaluation processes can be inconsistent and are subject to retaliation if you challenge the status quo.

The company culture of "feedback" can sometimes enable nitpicking and micromanagement, setting up employees to fail to simply meet the quota.

Advice to Management

The gap between excellent technical leaders and problematic managers is too wide. When employees raise concerns about management behavior, there should be clear processes for investigation and resolution. Consider how performance review processes might be weaponized by managers who prioritize personal preferences over professional competence.
