As a business model matures, the chance for a contribution (and promotion) is much more limited than 10 years ago (unless you are in AI).
Long hours and work over weekends are the norm. Management culture is seriously lacking nowadays, and it very much depends how good the manager on your team is. There is no middle ground; usually, it's either a very good one or a very mediocre one.
