Free food, total work freedom, no micromanaging.
False sense of stability. RSUs are a headache to deal with. They give you an opportunity to seem like you're contributing, and then make up reasons to jettison your job. You get no recognition for your work.
I started out here as a Contract worker for almost 2 years and worked my way up into a full-time position. It was not easy to accomplish yet Management didn't even consider my humble beginnings and then success story- I really earned my place here and it wasn't an easy road to climb. Instead they sent me packing and labeled me as a "Low performer" almost 3 years later. This was all caused a poor manager who used my own words against me and instead of speaking to me directly to resolve the issues prior to his mid-year review, he puts that in his report. This soon led to myself being added to what Zuckerberg called "Low performers". Management does not take accountability of their actions. Instead of helping their subordinates improve on any situations, they quickly judge and label you and then find some dumb excuse to justify whatever actions they did but still make them look like a poor manager in the end because this also reflects on the rest of the team. The managers take your own words our of context and use it against you to help justify your ouster. This was done during their mid-year review. I had a friend who once said, "Never let them see you sweat"- in this case I did and instead of working on ways to tackle this issue, they slap the scarlet letter on you without hesitation. My former manager was just a spreadsheet pusher- he did know how to talk but really didn't do anything to help me improve on areas that he felt may be causing my "Low Performance". I think he was more interested in taking care of his personal family affairs outside of work instead of focusing on the team. I was making strides in this team and also improving my skillsets in my job, but other factors involved were preventing me from doing so.
In being let go from my position, I left over 300K in RSU's and was paid no bonus. Days after the layoff, it was reported that Managers at Meta had their bonuses increased to 250%. All the folks that lost their jobs had their salaries redirected back to who? Their poor management. What a cut-throat company.
I don't consider myself a "Low performer"- why would I make it this far in my career only to fall flat? I believe that everyone who was laid-off was because it was a company-wide salary-dump and had nothing to do with performance. They should of just said that instead of labeling these on folks who are now having a hard time looking for a job.
Telephone round for 45 minutes. Friendly people, comfortable conversation. There are no hard feelings. The questions were basic, very specific, and not very hard. Just take time to understand and answer.
I received an email where the recruiter offered me to apply for a role. I accepted and they scheduled a call. After this call, they scheduled a coding interview. After this interview, they scheduled 6 more interviews: 4 in one day and 2 the next.
The first round is with a technical recruiter and involves a background introduction. They will get to know you and share information about the position and location. You will then be asked to prepare for a general phone screen coding interview.
