Pros
  • You still have a job (maybe)
  • Free food
  • Free coffee, snacks, and healthy options
  • Some cool people around
  • A lot of independence
Cons

If you were at the company before COVID and after COVID, it's like it's a completely different company. And you get bothered by stuff that maybe people that entered after COVID are just thankful for. I'm trying not to sound privileged, but overall the quality of everything dropped, or there isn't that benefit anymore.

  • No more fancy stuff for food
  • No more clubs budget
  • No more work trips (unless VERY needed)
  • No more etc., etc., etc.

VERY COMPETITIVE ENVIRONMENT. People just don't say what work should be done to others so they can do it themselves later and add it to their performance review. In this time of layoff, none want to give away perf points.

Leaders have no clue at all what is going on. Really.

The Production Engineering community, while extremely friendly, is also very, very techy focused. If you hang out with them, you're gonna talk about infra, caches, what is your home set-up, how are the new routers, etc., etc., etc. If you are just a new grad, you're gonna be left out for sure.

Performance review is the worst. You will be stressed about this all year round and it will impact very badly in your life.
