Most projects are calibrated towards PSC, to claim personal or team impact. They will be thrown away after one or two halves.
Expect to have an unstable stack all the time. You are always dogfooding other teams' new projects.
IC5 or lower roles will be working like a cog for most of the time.
On top of the "cog" work, of course you need to come up with new "directional" designs every half. You need endless alignment to get buy-ins for your design, or abandon it. In the latter case, your mid-year or year-end review will be impacted.
The process was quite navigable. The first two rounds were phone interviews (during COVID, granted) with a couple of programming questions, each taking 5-10 minutes. My interviewer was a bit hard to understand, but asked interesting questions.
I was targeting E4. LeetCode tagged questions * 2 LeetCode tagged questions * 2 Behavioral questions * 6 Design coding contest with leaderboard. Reject after two weeks. Overall interview experience is good.
The HR assistant sent material to prepare for the phone interview. There was a phone and live coding interview with a tech manager. The task was not an easy one, and the interviewer was very helpful.
