The best reason to work at Facebook as a software engineer is at Facebook, my ability to make an impact is limited only by my physical capacity to stay awake, not my need for food, etc. Engineers are able to work on any system(s) necessary to solve a problem and are not constrained around implementation tactics.
I think the con is the flipside of the pro. There's so much more to do than I can possibly get done; sometimes I feel stressed. The fun part here is this is entirely self-induced... :/
I think it's important to keep working hard on the growth of the company. Although I haven't seen it yet, a fear I have is that leadership at Facebook relaxes on managing company growth. I think it's important to keep this as a top priority indefinitely while we're in a rapid growth mode of operation.
