I regularly see people (both engineers and managers) leaving the company because they find it easier to get a promotion elsewhere and then return at the new level than to get promoted from within.

Reorgs are frequent and devastating.

Less reorgs, or more input from the engineers into these reorgs, or more accountability for their consequences. It hurts. It's hard to feel interested in the work you do or valued as a professional if your work gets canceled all the time for inconceivable reasons.
