Thanks to a high level of ownership, thin staffing, and a bottom-up structure, you learn a lot of soft skills even as a junior engineer. These include:

Stress. If you want to work a 40-hour week, you will probably have to develop the ability to leverage every resource optimally to make the most impact in the fewest hours, and to successfully reject additional work and preempt inevitable scrambles.
