Meta's good when you are aligned with your manager on the project, and the project is viewed as important, and the project aligns with your skillset.
But you are always one re-org, manager change, project shift, or cancellation away from "low impact".
Annual ranking is an aggressive stack rank that focuses solely on the last year. So, you can be "Exceeds" or "Strong Exceeds" for several annual cycles. If the last year's project gets canceled (due to a reorg), you will have low impact and be rated below your peers, especially at IC5 and above.
