Process

Interviewed with 2 other candidates and 2 hiring managers (1 hr). It’s been a while, so here’s what I can recall:

Started with brief self-introductions from all candidates.
Followed by 1–2 short questions for each person.
Hiring managers gave a short introduction of the team and role.
Discussed programming languages used in the position.
Discussed AI’s impact on the Data Engineer role.
Ended with a Q&A session.

Although the role was part of a global team, the interview was conducted in Chinese (Mandarin).

Pros: I had the opportunity to work with a modern cloud-based environment, as Micron uses Google Cloud Platform instead of traditional on-premise systems. During my internship, I was also exposed to tools like DBT, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines, which are valuable experiences that strengthened my understanding of data engineering workflows. My mentor was very dedicated and supportive, and I truly learned a lot from both the technical and collaborative aspects of the team.

Cons: The internship duration was relatively short, which limited the scope of contributions that I could make. I would have loved to stay longer to deepen my involvement in production-level projects. Besides, there are frequent social events that may not suit everyone’s preferences.
