Process

My first contact for this position was an on-campus information session. They went over why Boise would be a good place to work and live, and they gave an overview of the positions available (four people were there looking for four different positions). At that session, I signed up for two interviews.

The first interviews were technical interviews. I didn't get past one of those interviews, but I did with the other.

The second interview was a phone interview that basically went over the same things as the first in-person interview (what's the truth table for a NOR gate? How would you build it?).

Then they set up an on-site interview (and paid for everything). It consisted of interviewing with the HR manager and five people, one right after the other.

The HR manager asked about salary and agreed that what I saw online was about what they pay. Three of the others asked technical questions, then I had about five minutes afterwards to ask them questions. One asked behavioral questions (what do you plan to do in five years). The last one was a manager.

Then I was supposed to get a response within one to two weeks, and I didn't hear back from them for a month (it was the end of the year, so they were busier and not as staffed as usual). The HR manager then told me over the phone that "Micron can't hire me because they didn't have 100% consensus." I have my opinions as to why, but it wasn't due to my answers to their technical questions. I answered very quickly and accurately (one of the questions dealt with finding data on a datasheet. I used the find function to find the information really quick, and I even pointed out something that the interviewer hadn't noticed and had lots of time to talk to him at the end).
