I got in touch with the company recruiter through the Microsoft website. They were very helpful, and I got the feeling that they wanted to see me succeed.

I submitted my resume and a short essay, after which I was offered an interview on campus.

There were two 30-minute interviews:

• One with a current employee (a program manager) who was very easy to talk to. This interview was pretty rough, as they wanted to see how I think and my decision-making process.
• One with the recruiter, which was more laid back and focused on soft skills, interests, etc.

While I didn't get an offer, it was a very enjoyable experience that will benefit me in future interviews.
