I was called for a 2 PM slot for the interview in the Gurgaon office for the IDC, Hyderabad position.
After waiting for 3 hours, I was called for the first round.
The interview started with introductions, and I gave the same (scripted) introduction to the interviewer.
He asked me to cut short the introduction and asked for the best bug I had solved yet.
I explained the problem and then started giving him the strategy (in brief) which I used, but it seemed like he wanted to cut that short too.
The person really made me nervous because, till now, he was just looking at his laptop for most of the time and hardly looked at my face for 3-4 seconds.
He asked me to solve two very basic DS questions, and before I could ask for any edge cases and range of numbers, he left the room and said to complete it within 5 minutes.
I had 3-4 doubts but didn't get a chance to even ask them.
After he came back, I was explaining the approach to the first question. He was again in a hurry due to his flight that he didn't even listen properly and made the judgment that I am very poor in DS.
I never expected the interview to happen in such a way, as I heard this 3 times in 30 minutes: that he is getting late for his flight.
Never expected this behavior from such a respected organization. And in the next 2 minutes, I was told in a very informal way by the interview manager that based on the feedback, you are rejected. Nothing like, "How was the interview and interviewer? Are you having any doubts or anything, etc."
I never got such cold behavior from Microsoft before, and if time is the issue, I believe it's not the candidate's mistake to keep him waiting for 3 hours and then just send him in for a 25-minute interview. Not fair.
