Process

There was a short phone interview, then I moved on to an in-person interview. I arrived in the morning, and the other candidates and I were brought to the floor in the office where we would stay for the day.

First, I gave a 10-minute presentation about myself to a group of Microsoft employees. I gave it, and that was that. There was no feedback portion, although I did answer a few small questions about the technologies of projects in my presentation.

Then, I had a one-hour interview with mostly one engineer (although a second one was present to watch). We talked about my experience and the things on my resume, and then they asked me a few more technical questions meant to find out how I solve problems, such as "How would I speed up an app that takes a long time loading a list of 20 objects?" or "How would I debug an X issue?"

After that, I went back to the waiting room for a bit and began my second interview. This was one-on-one, and my interviewer mentioned he did some robot-related work for Microsoft, so I talked about my experience doing high school robotics. We mostly just went back and forth, having a good conversation.

Then, they said I could go home! They had mentioned in their email that I would get three interviews, so I'm not sure why that was. It was already late in the afternoon, so I'm guessing they were running low on time. I did not have to do any whiteboard coding.
