Principal Software Engineer Interview Experience - Los Angeles, California

Process

The hiring process started in September and ended in December, with unbelievably long periods of silence and no updates in between.

The Hiring Manager joined the interview process as the last person, which was unexpected as they were expected to be involved earlier. This manager informed me that I did not have the experience they were looking for. They were the LAST person I interviewed with.

During the technical questions, it seemed the interviewers did not have a correct answer. Instead, they appeared to be trying to solve their own work problems by collecting fresh ideas from candidates. No one was able to formulate a complete task, and the initial conditions and requirements were changed several times during the interview.

Questions

You have 3 input streaming channels, 3mbps each. You need to deliver all of this (9mbps streaming data) via a single output channel with 3mbps max bandwidth. You don't know the nature of the data, compression doesn't work, and you have nobody to ask about other requirements. You are the owner of the solution. The interviewer didn't provide any more clarification.
