Senior Software Development Engineer Interview Experience - Herzliya, Israel

Process

It was defined as a technical interview. It was face-to-face, held in Microsoft's offices in Herzliya, Israel, and lasted 1.5 hours. I was interviewed by the Principal Software Engineer of the group. After a brief small talk, they explained what the group does and the position's expectations, then asked me to describe my recent work.

We discussed my current and previous workplaces, talking about projects and technologies. Afterward, I was asked two technical questions, and the interview concluded. During the conversation, I received positive feedback on all my answers and was told that my experience, specialization, and knowledge fit the group and the position.

On the next day, I received a rejection letter. It seemed like the whole process had nothing to do with hiring a person, but rather with presenting the appearance that interviews for the position were being held. This left me frustrated and unwilling to deal with Microsoft again, at least not in Israel.
