Recently, there was an opening with MS-Hyd for Senior Software Operations. It’s a dream come true for any IT professional to join MS; even getting shortlisted for an interview is an achievement.
I was approached by two top staffing agencies in India for this position, and neither was able to get my profile shortlisted. (Ninety-five percent of staffing agencies can’t be trusted).
I saw the same opening on Naukri and applied, but there was no response. I thought it might have been rejected again, but to my surprise, I got a call from MS-HR on a Saturday noon to appear for a face-to-face interview. I was given the slot for the next day (hardly a day to prepare myself for MS) as they were visiting Pune for recruitment.
I tried to get more information about the interview process and details and clarification from HR, but they didn’t take much interest in telling me the details. So, based on the requirements mentioned in the JD, I prepared myself and reached the venue on time on Sunday.
Finally, the panel arrived, and after waiting for 30 minutes, I was escorted by HR to the interviewer’s cabin. (Except for his name, I still don’t know his designation).
He briefed me about the profile and started his technical round. To my surprise, that guy was more interested in areas where he had expertise, without looking at what experience and expertise I have. I was being grilled badly by him because the technical round was outside my expectations and my expertise area.
Thus, I lost an opportunity to be part of MS just because of the ignorance of the HR panel for not providing me with correct information and insufficient time to appear for the interview (considering it’s MS and not any Tom, Dick, and Harry company).
I was really frustrated and annoyed by the way this ended.
My suggestion to everyone being called for an interview is to get as much detail from HR before appearing for an interview (face-to-face, telephonic, or written), otherwise you will also end up in the same fashion.
As per me, I would rate my interview process “Very Tough” just because of the incomplete information provided to me.
Good luck to everyone!!
