Microsoft tests candidates through various levels and multiple rounds. They aim to analyze your aptitude, especially in the following areas:

• In-depth understanding of system architecture
• 360-degree knowledge of domain/tools
• Proficiency in data structures
• Ability to write code in any programming language (Java/.NET/Python/Perl) with OOPs concepts
• Strong understanding of cloud concepts and providing end-to-end solutions

My interview experience with Microsoft was very good, and the recruiter responses were always prompt. All the interviewers were friendly, and the experience was truly valuable. If they believe you can make a positive impact with your work, you will be hired.

Since they have such a long hiring process involving many people, I felt the decision-making should not be based on a single round. If a highly influential team member flags a "no hire," your chances are over. Interviewers may not always be free enough to assess your skills appropriately. I was interviewed in a hurry by a very good techie who, due to being fully occupied with meetings, did not show interest in listening to my answers and passed negative feedback. Therefore, please ensure the interview timings are considered.
