Software Development Engineer II Interview Experience - Redmond, Washington

Negative ExperienceNo Offer

Process

The process was very simple.

  1. A recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn.
  2. I finished the online coding assessment.

From there, a Microsoft Hiring Event day was scheduled.

The interview was pretty simple, straight LeetCode. They didn't even change the examples.

  • 1st Interview:
    • Medium LeetCode question. When I solved it in 15 minutes, a second question was asked, followed by a behavioral question. This interview finished in under 40 minutes.
  • 2nd Interview:
    • A very common LeetCode question was asked. The interviewer asked if I had seen it on LeetCode before. After I solved it, I was asked to optimize it, which I did. This was followed by a behavioral question.
  • 3rd Interview:
    • An OOD question after a behavioral question. The interviewer did not ask any follow-up questions. This interview finished in under 40 minutes.
  • 4th Interview:
    • A tree-based question, which was also solved in the most optimal way. The interviewer mentioned that he had very little experience in Java and couldn't understand some of the code. There were no follow-up questions. Another behavioral question was included. This interview also finished in 40 minutes.

When I checked with the recruiter, I was told that I was rejected. I was very confident about this interview and still don't understand why I was rejected.
