Process

I got the first interview from my college career website and passed the first round.

The second round was final and consisted of five interviews:

1 Sr. SDET
1 Test Lead
1 Test Principal
2 Directors

Each interview had three parts: starting with chatting about your background, then coding, and finally writing test cases.

Although I did not receive an offer, it was a valuable experience to learn what to focus on and improve.

Pros: It is a famous company. Microsoft's name on your resume will open many doors for you. There are still a lot of smart people here. The pay is OK for me. I may get a little bit more in other big tech companies in the area; however, it is just not worth the hassle to change jobs.

Cons: There is a lot of red tape to get the job done. There are many layers of management at Microsoft. The company does not move as fast compared to other leading tech companies. We lost many good engineers to Google.

Pros: Excellent place if you are a star coder & game player. Microsoft loves super-smart coders. If you can code 12 hours without stopping, Microsoft is still willing to pay big bucks for you.

Cons: If you want promotion, work/life balance is very hard to maintain. Opaque and inhuman review process.
