Process

The interview process involved two steps. First, I had a phone screening with HR, where I was asked about my professional background, education, work, and personal achievements.

After that, there was a phone test. This involved a small check on how to test a login form with two edit boxes (login and password) and a submit button. The task was to create test cases, explain them, estimate coverage, and create a test report.

Upon passing these two stages, I received an on-site interview invitation. The in-person interview was conducted with three people, one at a time:

  • The project development team lead
  • The head of engineering (site leader)
  • An HR representative

I received a couple of simple questions from the development team lead: reverse a string, reverse a linked list, and find all elements from a hash table with a specific value.

With the site leader, there were questions about my knowledge of the software development life cycle and agile development. Following this, we had an informal conversation about my personal views on software quality assurance, teamwork, and overall personal goals.

There was a small delay while the interviewers discussed my candidacy. Afterward, I received an offer right away. I negotiated the salary slightly, inquired about company bonuses, and finally accepted the offer.

Questions

The most unexpected question was about how I would spread the work between my teammates and myself.
