I applied to Microsoft for an internship based on a campus job posting. About two to three weeks later, I received an email asking for a convenient time to schedule a phone interview. I was informed that the interview would be very technical and involve hands-on coding. However, the phone interview turned out to be a general HR interview rather than a technical one.

Your answers are then noted down by the interviewer and attached to your resume before being circulated to various hiring managers. If selected, the next step would have been an on-site interview in Seattle. Unfortunately, I received a rejection letter three days after the phone interview.
