Process

One 30-minute phone interview, mostly behavioral questions with one logic puzzle.

Onsite in Redmond, WA.

The interview day starts with a meeting with the recruiter, discussing past experiences and expectations. Then, five technical interviews follow, each one hour long, including some behavioral questions and one technical question. The technical questions are quite straightforward. All interviewers are very experienced engineers/managers with 10+ years of experience.

Received an offer after 2 days.

My recruiter called to discuss the details and sent the offer letter afterward.

Pros: The pay is great, very nice people. Almost anything you want to work on in the technical space is available there, so switching around doesn't require switching companies.

Cons: Sometimes Microsoft can't commit to funding a project internally, but will turn around and spend 100X to buy a startup that did the same thing a year later. New VPs like to kill the previous VPs' initiatives, like a lion taking over a pride and killing the cubs. They want to be seen as the source of the vision and leadership, not a babysitter of someone else's idea, even if that idea was brilliant.
