Process

The initial communication was an email from the recruiter with a short written coding skills test. After this was evaluated, I had a phone interview with the hiring manager. He asked some questions about my engineering background and then asked me to code something. The communication medium was Microsoft Live Meeting, and I did the coding on screen where he could see it.

A couple of days after the phone interview, an email arrived inviting me to Redmond for interviews. The day was a long one with seven interviews in all. Five of the seven were technical interviews. One was more informational, and the last asked some behavioral questions.

The technical interviews consisted of a coding problem, for example, how to delete a node from a linked list. My task was to code it up and talk about my thinking and why.
