Process

I applied online. The process took over 6 weeks. I interviewed at Microsoft. The interview was a 4-round virtual interview loop:

  • Round 1: Behavioral questions about my current role, an HTTP fundamentals discussion, and a coding problem—Move Zeros to End—which I solved with hints.
  • Round 2: Behavioral and System Design. I had to design a vending machine system.
  • Round 3: Behavioral and a coding problem: Particle Collision.
  • Round 4: A custom coding problem that was not on LeetCode.

There was poor post-interview communication with no response to follow-ups. I received an automated "position cancelled due to system error" email 2 weeks later.

Questions

The interview questions included moving zeros, HTTP mechanics, vending machine design, particle collision, and a custom DP/math problem.

The behavioral topics covered the current role, team dynamics, and projects.
