Software Engineer II Interview Experience - Chicago, Illinois

Process

I was interviewed for a Software Engineer 2 position (SAP). It consisted of four interviews, each 45 minutes long, all remote and conducted on the same day. These were the only interviews, and the decision would be made after them. The Hiring Manager was also one of the interviewers.

I finally received an update after four weeks from the recruiter. They informed me that the team recommended me for hire, but there was no headcount available with the team, so they could not extend a job offer. It was frustrating for such a reputed company to not have a headcount but advertise the position as open. There was also no proper communication from the recruiter.

Thankfully, I received a different offer in the meantime. I understand Microsoft is a big company and competition is fierce, but Microsoft takes such a long time to make a decision compared to other FAANG companies. This has to improve!
