Software Engineer New Grad Interview Experience - Redmond, Washington

Process

The process took longer than usual. It started with an on-campus interview, where I was asked three questions in 30 minutes. I was told that I had passed the interview, but the final round spots were full, so I waited five months to hear about a final round spot. The final round was all virtual due to COVID-19. I had three interviews back-to-back, with each one being 45 minutes of implementing code.

Questions

On campus:

  • Design an iterator for nested linked lists that includes hasNext() and next().
  • How would you find the running median for a stream of numbers?
  • How would you return the k largest integers in an array?

Final round:

  • Create a word search function for a Boggle board.
  • Implement a Trie.
  • Find the index in an array such that the sums of the left and right sides of that array are closest to one another.
