I am from Europe. My first contact was through LinkedIn, followed by a short phone call, and then a non-technical screening via an online call. After that, I received an invitation for a flight to Dublin for one-day interviews. During that day, I was interviewed by four different people who asked various questions. I answered three out of the four questions properly, but it wasn't enough for a transfer to the US as a software engineer.
