The company ethos is very employee-centric. I was made redundant last year, and the whole process was really smooth, with many company-provided supports. Microsoft really feels like a company that values people.
Work can be rather mundane, as a result of working in very large projects. This is really an issue with large companies in general, versus working in more dynamic smaller companies (of course, with the downside of less stability).
