Pros

Working with new technology, I learned to work with Office 365 and its corresponding workloads, including:

  • Lync
  • Skype for Business
  • OneDrive for Business
  • OfficeProPlus
  • SharePoint Online
  • Exchange Online (2010, 2013, 2016)

Migrated on-prem Exchange and AD environments to Azure and Office 365, providing support and troubleshooting for:

  • AADC
  • AADP
  • MDM
  • EMS
  • ActiveSync

Free beverages are great, the cafeteria is great (I love their sweet tea), and there are free sodas and water from vending machines. I enjoyed my team members.

Cons

Excessive workload with unpredictable customers.

FastTrack Center (FTC) training could be more effective and detailed.

FTOP application is NOT the greatest.

Removed Certification Center from onsite (???).

Learning the job consisted of:

  • 3 days training
  • Self-study
  • Learn as you go
  • Some mentorship

Microsoft is constantly pushing for stats, but many factors affect those stats.

Burnout is potentially inherent.

Advice to Management

Half of our job security depends on customers rating their Microsoft FastTrack Engineer. Engineers cannot make customers complete the survey, which then detracts from an engineer's NSAT rating.
