Good work-life balance. Good benefits. Good career growth from junior to senior level. Some people hated the curve or stack ranking, but it does allow each team's best engineer to stand out and get promoted, even if their project is not going well.
Most teams move slowly compared to the industry. Some teams had tremendous baggage and technical debt. Too much process. Too many PMs.
Satya's direction is definitely better than Ballmer's, but there needs to be more painful changes.
