Many different groups and domains to work in. Great resume builder. Nearly everyone is passionate and motivated.
Can be bureaucratic. Work-life balance is talked about but not always a priority. Learning to say no and keep focus on highest priorities is key.
There were always way too many "must dos" at any given point, and never enough devs to do them. Planning exercises never had enough buffer for critical bugs and customer escalations, nor space for engineering to simplify, modernize, or fix so there were less bugs to disrupt planned work. A lot of time was spent talking about quality and reducing regressions, but it needed meaningful action and resourcing to become more than just talk.
