Pros

Used to have a great culture (growth mindset), solid growth prospects (team-dependent), stability, and good perks for families. Also get to work with remarkable people, including some tech thought leaders.

Cons

Massive recurring layoffs, collapsing morale, overinvestment in AI at the expense of established/profitable products.

Advice to Management

This was a great company to work for during the initial Satya years. The growth mindset really took off in the culture, stock was steadily growing and profitable, and exciting work was available (Azure, Xbox, etc.).

Since the AI pivot and accompanying layoff waves, morale has collapsed, and a fatalistic sense of being headed for a cliff (the bursting AI bubble) presides.

For Microsoft to regain its footing from an employee perspective, it is critical to adopt a more balanced approach to AI integration, continue investing in established profitable businesses, and work to retain world-class talent (outside of AI).
