Microsoft works on such a vast range of products that you are almost guaranteed to find what interests you being worked on here. Plus, moving within Microsoft is not very hard as long as your performance is average or above.
Microsoft slipped as a company on several fronts under CEO Steve Ballmer. It was certainly not from lack of great ideas, but lack of vision and technical depth at the upper echelon in MS.
