Pros

Lots of learning for freshers. Most people are helpful in teaching freshers about software practices and technologies.

Flexible work: You can go to the office and leave the office at any time. You can work at your own pace and time.

Open-minded employees: It is a relief to step into the office and find people with whom you can share any crazy idea.

Cons

Profit and impact driven - the focus is more on domain knowledge than on programming skills and coding standards. Good code is seldom appreciated.

Too much QA work - since there is no dedicated test role, developers who write production code spend more time in testing than in development.

Less inclined to open-source technologies and primarily focused on MS tech - this is slowly changing now, but there is a lot to improve.

Advice to Management

Most people who join Microsoft expect to find satisfying programming work.

Let the devs actually code rather than make them sit through long meetings or test products.
