Pros

Benefits & Compensation.

IMO, it's still the best, even after all the changes, especially if you have a family to look after.

Being a big company also means there are many different products/industries that you can work in. If you are willing to look, with a bit of luck and networking, you will usually find your best fit team very easily.

Cons

Sometimes there's just too much process. The review system just promotes internal conflict instead of internal harmony, in my opinion. I think management has yet to show anyone that they are serious about getting product teams to work together. The overall company culture does not promote job/idea exploration within the company. For example, the overall process of pitching ideas, getting a review of your ideas, and getting resources for ideas are non-existent.

Advice to Management

If management cannot figure out how to create an atmosphere of collaboration, then in the long term it will harm MS's ability to be the vision leader that it wants to be. So, first, please fix the review and process to allow better collaboration.
